Staying the path: Day 13 - 21/09/06

Friday, September 22nd, 2006

Not much to add really. It's been a long time since I had anything fried and I've got no urge to eat anything fried either. I had a dream the other night where I ordered a steak at a restaurant and pushed the serve of chips ("fries" to you Yanks) to the side of the plate when it arrived. Even subconsciously I can turn them down.

Cooking on a diet: Day 12 - 20/09/06

Thursday, September 21st, 2006

I have to say, cooking while on this diet has been pretty fun.
When I first started eating healthy I was steaming vegetables and boiling rice - in effect I was making pauper's meals. As I get further into my diet the creative aspect of my brain is taking over and I start to look at food in different ways.

Take today's dinner for example: I was trying to think of something different to do with the piece of steak left over from pack i bought for Day 11. Taking a mallet, I flattened it down then dipped it in egg mix and pressed both sides into some breadcrumbs mixed with cummin powder. Then that went in the frypan with a bit of olive oil and was cooked until medium rare. Perfect.

Snacking: Day 11 - 19/09/06

Wednesday, September 20th, 2006

What I'm finding hardest about dieting at work is the mid-afternoon crash that comes around everyday between 3pm and 4pm. Learning to manage that is going to be one of the important things I do. I'm finding that the Weight Watchers snack stuff is actually fairly decent and not at all tasteless like I assumed it would be.

Tofu and steamed vegetables with rice.
2 Weight Watchers rasberry tarts.

Spaghetti with chorizo/tomato sauce (leftovers from the other night)

Exercise

16 minutes on the elliptical rider on level 5 of the 'Hike' setting. According to the machine I burnt 186 calories, which works out to be 778 kilojoules in the new language. Interestingly enough I'm not sore this morning, so I'll be pushing a bit harder tonight.

On Exercise: Day 9 - 17/09/06

The Spirit

Another day where I miss a meal, but in my defense the pasta plate for lunch was big enough that it kept me full right through the night. Exercise consisted of wandering around with Mike down at Port Melbourne at sunset taking photos.

My housemates bought an elliptical rider on the weekend which is fantastic in that it gives me another avenue for exercise. I've also got to make an effort to get back into my poi-twirling.

Day 9
Breakfast
Plain white roll.

Lunch
Spaghetti with chorizo/tomato sauce.
Three pieces of garlic bread.
Two VB stubbies.

Dinner
Glass of water.
